Cold windy afternoon, daffodils, dogs and Ethel

While many people would stay away from walks on a cold windy afternoon Ethel enjoys every opportunity to go out. Today, the afternoon quickly turned from nice but windy to cold and windy. Still, Ethel, Meg and Gerry enjoyed a long walk through the Phear Park with frequent stops to talk to dogs, watch children enjoying free afternoon after school and pick some spring blossom.

Welcome Elsie

Elsie was born in the Pennines, loves walking and joined our ramblers this afternoon. We watched training exercises at the life boat station, seagulls fighting over a large piece of french bread and for the first time were blown back to the car by an in creakingly colder wind. Still, as Elsie said ‘a bit of cold is healthy’  😀

Just keep walking

a walk a day keeps the doctor away, keeps us in synch with everyone else including dogs, and allows to offload our thoughts. Feeling the sun on our skins, hearing the birds singing their eve or morning song – what else would one wish to do. Today was no different – Ian, Gerry, Meg, Joy, Bob, Clare and others. Bob loved listening to the birds – they were singing their hearts out this afternoon, Meg loved the flowers.

Birds of a feather …. ?

our early morning walks tend to attract Dennis, Reg, Harry, Rene, John and Gerry. A quick trip to the beach regardless of the wind is favoured

The garden is open for business, When Harry met Ron and Bunny and Spring

Bliss, finally a beautiful day. Morning  fitness with Mick, and there was a dash to the beach.  The sun so warm we spilled out straight after lunch and it was only rain that pushed us back inside at 3.15pm! Gerry and Reg took a walk and fed the fish. Meg helped with sweeping.

Ethel and Ethne loved listening to the spring sounds  and views (yes, daffodils!) , Kay and Betty chatting away and all four watching men at work.  And men we did have! Ron continued with digging out what was a very big and prickly shrub and Harry helping out and supervising. And as you would expect they moved after that to discuss the important aspects of wisteria 🙂  It was great to see both Harry and Ron enjoying doing something they love and enjoying each other’s company. And if that was not enough Harry has now got a second garden mate – Bunny. Where do you find Bunny on the terrace? Under the raised beds cleaning the paving 🙂

And the gardening was followed by another wonderful live music session / music quiz. As usual Eileen and Clare enjoyed the music tremendously watching John’s playing. We all had a super day!Let’s pray for more days like that…
