Down the yellow brick road.

We love our new garden path which makes for a much more comfortable way into the cottage.

Cottage artist group at th WooHoo event

The art club at the cottage has been working with local artist Angie Seaway for the past year using a wide variety of materials and mediums.

This year they were invited to the Woohoo arts and comedy event at the Ocean in Exmouth. For the event they painted self-portraits and big glasses. While the art classes are primarily about enjoyment, Angie has observed that people have developed their artistic skills and abilities over the period, which is interesting as all the members of the arts group are living with dementia!

Rose Lodge in UK top 20

Last month we were voted in the UK  top 20 small care home groups by our residents and their families. That is quite some honour and we are jolly pleased with it! It comes on top of our CQC Outstanding award and a Gold award for dementia design from Stirling University.

We are particularly pleased with this latest award as it is based on ratings which are provided by residents and families at carehome.co.uk which is the UK’s leading independent care home advisor. For us it demonstrates that having two smaller communities for people at the different stages of dementia is really working for our residents. Here’s a picture of residents and staff with our award.
