A community art project

Our residents in the Cottage are working with local artist Angie Seaway to create an artwork for everyone to enjoy. When it’s finished it will take pride of place in our new loggia, affectionately known as ‘the chapel’.

Terrace life….

At the Lodge today – we’re having a fantastic summer!

A trip to the beach

with ice creams of course!

Our new guinea pigs

Yesterday our new guinea pigs arrived and they are ever so sweet – they are yet to be named by the residents. Awww

Chess anyone ?

Many people would be surprised to see people with dementia playing chess. We are not – OK maybe just a little. We have learned not to impose limits on what people with dementia can do. Most often those limits turn out to be in our own minds and not in the minds of people with dementia. We don’t help people to play chess in order to maintain or develop their cognitive skills. This is not therapy and we are not trying to ‘fix a broken machine’. It is much simpler that that: Some people enjoy playing chess and while they enjoy it they should do it!
