Making friends

One of the reasons we like our builders is that they make friends with the residents. My rule of thumb is that when they know all the residents by name it’s time for a break from building and we have just about got to that point. They will leave us  for a while now to enjoy the garden in all its glory.

Everything in the right place.

A water butt, a watering can, a gardening shed and a greenhouse with plants. Everything together so you can water some plants when you fancy it. Someone to give you a hand of keep you company. Design details really matter in dementia care.

Concentration

Call it concentration, flow, or zen. In this mind state confusion falls away and the past and future disappear. There is only the here and now and the pure joy of creating beauty. At the weekly art class in the Cottage today.

This is not therapy.

We are not trying to ‘fix’ our residents by keeping their brain active with puzzles and games. It’s much simpler than hat – some people just like to do puzzles and games. Our goal is equally simple: well-being. At the Lodge today.
