This is our weekly skittles session at the GWR railway club. The club has been very hospitable to us over the past few years and it is the highlight of the week for many of our residents.

This week the art club celebrated the fine tradition of collage.

We are blessed with our own entrance to a lane that allows for safe walks of some distance without crossing any roads (though we do go further afield when it is safe to do so). Here’s a couple of walks today:

Ilze has been one of our neighbours for many years, living in a flat on the other side of our garden fence. A few years ago she joked with me that if only she had dementia, she would then be able to join us as we were always having so much fun in the garden. Ironically she is now living with dementia and she has started to visit us as she pleases, an hour one day, a couple of hours another day. For the moment it works for Ilze and so it works just fine for us.

She does not recall sharing a joke with me – in fact she does not remember me at all. Still, a neighbour with dementia is still a neighbour.

Last week we had a garden contractor come in to top up our raised beds with some new soil, and this involved replanting the rhubarb.  Today Scottie helped to inspect the work and water in the allotment beds.
