Our Activities programme for Spring 2012

We have added Yoga to the programme a few weeks ago, which is going very well. Art isn’t on the programme as a specific activity, though several residents do practice their art at Rose Lodge. If anyone knows of an art teacher who would like to lead an art class once a week then please let us know.

Beautiful Budleigh

It felt like a spring day as we joined June, Harry and Rene for a ramble along the Budleigh beach and the Otter Estuary. watching the hugo colonies of birds, and the flowering ‘ice plants’. We rounded it off with a welcome pot of tea at ‘the cosy teapot’ in Budleigh. Harry was the only person with money in his pocket, and he kindly paid – thank you Harry!

Yoga!

We got to know Mary and Roy at the weekly ‘Singing for the brain’ meetings in Brixington. Mary mentioned that she is a yoga teacher and so we snapped her up for our residents. Today was the second session and the response from the residents is fantastic with nearly half the residents and the care team joining in. Not only is this a relaxing work-out for the muscles, Mary also made it great fun. As I write this, an hour after the end of the session, I can hear very animated discussions going on in the lounge. Just great, and so we will add this to our weekly activities programme. The challenge is to find a free slot!

The first of the summer wine ?

The Rose Lodge Ramblers were out in force today and the weather was fantastic. We’ve all got a little bit stiffer over the winter months so we resolved to get back into the habit of walking every week come rain or shine. We did get a few surprised looks as we walked down the esplanade making jokes and singing songs. Mischief is so exhilarating!
