We Remember

Remembrance Day carries so many different meanings to everyone in our community. For the younger generation this is the stories told by parents and grandparents or photographs; for others these are memories of a childhood in a war torn Europe and for some it is the first hand experience of fighting the war on the front in Europe or Africa, or supporting the war effort at home in Britain.

We celebrated the Remembrance Week and Remembrance Sunday with poppies and watching the service on TV. This year 4 residents represented our community by joining the remembrance service in the Strand – Rita, Brian, Harry and Rene. Rita and Rene also took it upon themselves to lay the wreath at the memorial on behalf of everyone at Rose Lodge. This was a moving ceremony.

It was also the time for reminiscence, laughter and unexpected encounters.

Thank you Rita, Harry, Brian and Rene.
