Free Dementia day care offer to mark National Carers week 2010

Join us for a day!

The theme of this year’s Carer’s week is ‘A life of my own’. Those who care full time for a loved one living with dementia know that this can be very rewarding but it can also become very tiring, particularly if the person needs support throughout the day and night. At times it can feel like you no longer have a life of your own and wouldn’t it be great for both of you to have a break for a day, knowing that your loved one is being supported and cared for by people who are specially trained in dementia care ? Until now there has not been a day care service for people with dementia in Exmouth but now a local care home which specialises in dementica care is offering just that.

Over the past few months we have met a number of people who, while not ready to move into a care home permanently,

would like a change from their normal home routine for an occasional or regular day out.

With no day care facilities available in Exmouth for people with dementia, we have decided to offer such a service at Rose Lodge.

The service will be available for people Monday to Friday from 1030 am till 4 pm, and includes refreshements and a cooked lunch. And of course, people can join in our regular activities programme.

To mark National Carers week, we are offering a free day for every day booked during July and August 2010.

Please contact the manager Carol Brice RGN on 01395 227071 if you think you will enjoy a break for a day.
